Fun at the Zoo!

Daddy, Mommy and Nolan went to Brookfield Zoo on Sunday. Nolan was so excited to see the animals! He was pointing at every animal and watched the animals very closely.
He saw some ducks in a big, open area and ran to catch up with them.
Daddy joined in the fun, too.
Nolan was mesmerized by...
a squirrel that came really close to a crowd of people. A boy fed the squirrel out of his hand. It was really something to see! Nolan loves squirrels so much and was pretty excited to see one up close and personal!
Nolan rode around the zoo in his wagon while holding Puppy.
We stopped at a picnic table for a fun picnic lunch.
Nolan pointed at more animals...he loved the baboons!
Nolan was exhausted and fell fast asleep as we pulled out of the zoo parking lot.
We had a great day and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We are looking forward to many more fun trips to the zoo this season!

Busy Friday Morning

Garbage day was Friday this past week because of the Memorial Day holiday. Nolan LOVES the garbage trucks. He hears them at the end of our block and runs up to the front windows to get a sneak peek. Garbage days are favorite days in our house! It was a perfect start to Nolan's Friday morning!
Mommy was trying to arrange the shower desserts on platters, so Nolan did some coloring in his high chair.
He quickly eyed the desserts...
and had to get down to try one! Mommy was afraid there would be cheesecakes and inside out oreos everywhere! Nolan was really good and just wanted to be closer and help Mommy. He had a few tastes, too!

Busy Helper

Mommy made the desserts for a family baby shower that was yesterday. Mommy baked on Thursday and made the trays on Friday. Nolan saw the lazy susan cabinet open all the way and bee-lined over to hop right in! Mommy and Nolan ran to the Jewel on Thursday morning for a few last minute ingredients. Nolan loves riding in the car carts.
The car carts make a grocery trip much more enjoyable!
Nolan was very eager to help with the baking.
He was so eager that he helped himself to some cream cheese and vanilla.
He helped measure and pour.
Nolan helped Mommy read the recipes and work the mixer.
After awhile, Nolan decided to take a break and play with his train. He pretended that his chair was a bridge and made the train go under the bridge. The train also went around the Tupperware obstacle course.
Nolan was a great taste-tester! He thought the inside out oreos and crust for the cheesecake were great!

Amy's Graduation Party

We went to Mommy's cousin Amy's college graduation party on Sunday. Nolan had his first bean bag game experience of 2009. He had many ringers!
Nolan quickly chased the bags.
He had more ringers!
He wanted to make sure the bags were all the way in the holes!
Bean bags are so much fun!
Nolan is Daddy's new partner!
Nolan had lots of fun on the slide at Aunt Kathey and Uncle Evert's house.
He loves climbing up the stairs.
Pops gave Nolan some rides on his legs/knees.
Pops gave Nolan some good hugs, too!
Nolan tried out the Gatorade.
He spent a long time moving them and stacking them on each step.
MoMo and Nolan had some snuggle time before going home to bed.
It was a fun Memorial Day party. Congratulations, Amy, and best wishes with your nursing program at Creighton!

Our Outdoor Helper

We worked outside for a long time today, and Nolan was a super helper! He helped shovel up the whirly birds from the driveway. He used his watering can to water the flowers and give himself a shower in his clothes. He shoveled more whirly birds and helped mow the lawn.
He took us on an imaginary trip!
He had fun pushing his cart.
He had the greatest time outside!
We have had a few ants here and there near our front windows. Nolan squats down and lets Mommy know when he sees the ants. He gets very excited. After his nap, Nolan was looking under Daddy's record player shelf for a long time.
He kept looking...
and looking...
and looking...
He would not leave the area.
Finally, Mommy pulled the record player stand away from the wall (with Nolan's assistance) to see LOTS of ants attached to a fruit loop and a piece of a granola bar left on the ground by a certain someone in our house...someone who is 32 pounds of love!
Nolan knew just what to do...go and get the Shark! Those ants were gone in no time! Mommy and Nolan had a discussion about not dropping food on the floor, especially under shelves while Mommy is not looking. We want our ants to go away once and for all!
Nolan and Mommy ran to Jewel in the early evening. Nolan helped unpack the groceries. He helped stack the pop and orange juice.
He stacked and unstacked the orange juice at least ten times.
He is so strong and LOVES to help!
He tried to pick up both orange juice cartons at the same time...he is an iron man in training!
